Photowalk through Africa

Published March 4th, 2012

These photos are from a photowalk through the city of Durban, South Africa yesterday.

This was the first time I had ever done this. Started off naturally scared to take photos of strangers in the street. But very quickly realized that very few people actually mind you taking their photo. In fact I'd say 5% of people would gesture not to have their photo taken. The rest didn't mind or they were to more scared of you to ask you not to take their photo. Loads of people asked and loved having their photo taken. It was like they were grateful that you would take the time to take their picture. It just blew my mind.

There's definitely something very appealing about having people in your photos. I think we are all drawn in by people in pictures. Really enjoyed this outing and will definitely do it again.
