What's the best weather to shoot in?

Published June 11th, 2011

I have a range of photos in my portfolio, they range from hail and snow, to blistering hot weather.

What is the best weather to shoot in? I know Golden Hour is the best time, but what is the best weather?

There is a downside to the sun, as it adds really harsh light; and if you don't have the right equipment to hand, you can't fix that..

Your thoughts are appreciated!

Now if you already know what kind of weather you'd like for a shoot or shoot then the best best weather would be that one.

But if your doing a photowalk style shoot then the best weather is whatever weather you're shooting in.

Unless you already have a set weather in mind for the shot, I think the weather just becomes another element in your photo. You'll have to decide how to incorporate the weather into you shot. Part of the decision will be how to set up the shot so that you won't have to do more post -camera work then you'd like. Sometimes, I just want to get the shot and wont mind spending hours in editing to change the weather. So I take the shot even if I don't have the right equipment.
