Sky on fire

There's a field in the Township of Wainfleet, Ont. that I really like to shoot because of three trees that stand on the one side of it. It's a good location for shooting storms and lightning and is pretty cool at sunset as well. The other day, a fellow shooter and I raced to the area as we saw the sky start to turn orange. The sky was blue when we arrived, but the sun soon started to light up the sky a dark orange. We had a good 15 minutes or so of shooting before we had to leave.

Glass Love, A Summer Surfboard Festival

Glass Love, A Summer Surfboard Festival put on by Wyldewood Surf Club in Port Colborne, Ont. It was the the first-ever event on the Great Lakes dedicated to the surfboard. It was part surf expo featured a surf swap, live shaping demonstration by Geoff Johnson of Five Surfboards, an antique surfboard roadshow, a ding repair clinic, raffles, and fireworks.

It also featured surfing as waves had built up enough in Lake Erie for the more than 50 people who came out to the festival to take to the water.

Chasing lightning

Finally!

After chasing storms for the last three months in the hopes of catching lightning, I was finally able to get some shots. Every storm I chased up until this past week was a dud. It either moved to quickly, or split up before reaching the area where I was. Any lightning shots I was able to get were just too far away for my liking.

I spent five hours chasing this storm around and was able to capture enough images I liked to keep me happy for a bit.
