HI,
I am a British photographer based in Taipei, Taiwan. I specialise in travel, city, landscape and portrait photography. As you'll see, I have a hyperreal style.
Unlike many photographers I did not develop my passion at an early age. Actually the opposite: though I travelled quite a bit in my early 20s, I hardly used my camera! Maybe I was lazy. I think instead that I was frustrated. I couldn't capture the world I saw around me so I didn't bother trying.
That changed a few years ago. I discovered High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography by chance - an ipad app I used linked to an HDR website. In HDR photography I finally found a representation of the world as I saw it. What's more, I was able to make images that I was happy with with relatively little practice. And I practised a lot - even now I do something photography-related pretty much every day!
My tastes have changed since then. Like most HDR photographers my tastes have moved progressively towards more realistic images, which I tend to prefer to the grungy look that is the hallmark of many HDR photographs. I've also developed a passion for other forms of photography - portraiture in particular but also broader travel photography.
I'm fortunate in that I live in Taiwan, a place that really inspires me to shoot. I'm fortunate in that I've been taught by some great photographers. And I'm fortunate in that I get to travel with my job - I love to see and photograph new cultures.
I'm still learning, and my photography is still improving. I think I always will be.
I hope you enjoy my images. Feel free to contact me with any questions (andy_beirne@hotmail.com)
