I am a British, freelance photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Photography took my interest when I was fifteen; from the moment I looked through the viewfinder, I knew instantly that it was what I wanted to do professionally.
I juggled my school work and photography, shooting commercially, primarily in portraiture as well as various sporting events. On the weekends I dabbled with interior work for publication by the likes of Condé Nast House & Garden as well as various property sales magazines and newspapers. However, it is People that fascinate me and quickly they became the focus of my images.
I have always had a passion for art but found painting frustrating and lethargic. Much to my teachers dismay, my work became increasingly graphic to speed things up. I believe that part of my initial love for photography was that this 'creation' became instant.
Having been told what art was throughout my school career, I chose not to go to university or formally study photography. Instead I believed that it was best to learn first hand and develop my own creativity, spending hours online, behind the lens and making mistakes.
It all came together when I branched into fashion and advertising work. To me they are limitless in potential when working with a team of people, each bringing a specific talent, collaborating for a common goal. No idea is too big or too small. There is the ability to play on a narrative, create something truthful or whimsical.
