Why do I take photos?

Everyday, and everywhere, moments pass us by. These moments can never be retrieved, never be remade, and never be entirely revisited.
…but they can be captured.
This is why I take photos.
In the last two years, I estimate I have taken something in the range 250 000 photographs. Though I may have only published 5 000 of these, and a little over 200 hundred have had views higher then ten, I still have spent those two years, with my eyes wide open, looking, searching, and capturing these little moments that race past endlessly.
I used to say ‘We only have the smallest fraction of a second’, it was a tagline for my photographs. I still believe in this as it stands true for what I do. My average photograph is taken on 1/200th of a second, everything from a student singing in a choir, to a model brushing the hair out of her face, to a protester waving a red flag, I strive to capture expression, emotion, colour, and environment among others, and I only have 1/200th of a second to do all o ...
