Massive swarms of starlings gather in the marshlands at dusk
The small birds join each other in flocks of many hundreds of thousands individuals. The starlings seek a place to roost using the huge areas of rushes as resting grounds.
In the marshlands
of southwestern Denmark and the northwestern Germany up to one million starlings swarm every fall and spring while migrating between their winter resting habitats in the southern Europe and their summer breeding grounds in Scandinavia.
