National Protest, Montréal (Part 2)

On May 22 2012 took place the great national event organized by the main student unions. The march lasted all afternoon, starting Place des Arts in Montreal, passing through the west of downtown and ending at Lafontaine Park, east of downtown. Nearly 250,000 people attended this grand procession, marking the 100th day of the student strike. There was no reported violence or arrests during the day. Children, young adults, parents and grandparents walking hand in hand, under the sun or rain.

Le 22 Mai 2012 à eu lieu la grande manifestation national organisé par les principaux syndicats étudiants. La marche aura duré tout l'après-midi, allant de la Place des Arts de Montréal, passant dans l'ouest du centre-ville, puis finissant au parc Lafontaine, à l'est du centre-ville. Montréal Protests (part 2)

On May 19, 2012, citizens took to the streets to protest against the new law 78, restricting the right of associations, gatherings and protests voted by the Government of Quebec.

In Montreal, during a protest that began in the evening, the tention between protesters and local police (SPVM) is felt. The march is proceeded without any clashes, until the movement passes over the campus of McGill University. At this time, units of Intervention Groups (IG) have decided to charge people peacefully protesting. Parents, children, seniors were present. Without making any distinction, grenades were thrown at the tear gas in the protesters, there were several draws from rubber bullets and grenade launcher into the crowd. The tactic was clear, the manifestation had gone on long enough and they said it was time to disperse the crowd.
