Trained as an ecologist, Jonathan Martin-DeMoor has lived, worked, and photographed in the boreal forests of northern and western Canada for many years. A self-taught photographer, for the past decade he has developed his photographic craft to push beyond a mere literal presentation of his subject matter (primarily forest and mountain landscapes and wildlife). Using a wide range of creative choices and tools—from composition and equipment to post-processing techniques—he creates images that represent common scenes in uncommon ways.
