Please visit me at: www.jaymackiephotography.com I was born July 19, 1984, in Edgware, Middlesex. I now reside near Brighton. I specialise in black and white fine are landscape and architectural photography. Ever since I took my first WOW picture in Thailand 2007 with a sony cyber shot I have had a strong passion and keen interest in photography. In 2009 I purchased a Canon 450d and became focused on HDR photographs. Unfortunately, being self taught I found I was not producing the results I wanted and inevitably ended up selling my camera. It was not until November 2011 I decided to follow my dream of taking pictures again. I purchased a Canon 7D and went back to basics and spent a whole week reading the manual and playing with the camera to try and get this wonderful piece of kit to do what I wanted it to..!! I quickly realised that the technical side is actually a very small part of making a beautiful image. I started to concentrate on the composition creating simple but effective images. This was a steep learning curve and I ruined many shots. I was becoming frustrated... until I took one shot of an old Citroen delivery van at night in London - you can view this image here. I realised that it wasn't just about taking pictures but creating images that you love and enjoy. Cole Thompson one of my favourite photographers once wrote "Create images for yourself and not for the praise of others" that saying has stuck with me and is now the golden rule I aim to follow.
