Photography captured Jayne's heart 3 years ago, inspired by her daughter's work. Prior to that, she had dabbled in black and white photography, back in the 80's or so, with an old Zenit E camera, and her own bathroom developing lab! She remembers her first Kodak instamatic when she was about 10, and how much fun it was taking snapshots - especially getting people to pretend that they didn't know they were being photographed, so they could be "candid"!
Since photography has become a passion in the past few years, Jayne has gone from a Canon Powershot, to the Canon 1000D, and now the Canon 40D, and is developing her skills whilst her love of photography as an art form continues to grow.
She says: "I love the way photography puts you in the moment, to see the detail around you and to capture a moment's beauty, or absurdity, or power .... One of the things I have said, from early on, is that photography puts more life into life. I mean by that, that it makes you see more than you normally would, and makes you alive to what's around you." This is the experience she hopes her viewers will have in looking at her work. She also believes that photography can evoke strong feelings, and be healing and uplifting for those who are viewing it.
Jayne loves being immersed in her own photographic world, but equally, she loves to glimpse the world through the eyes of other photographers.
