I'm currently living in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
My history is very unique and well-rounded. I joined the US Navy in 1981 as a Hull maintenance Technician (basically, a welder and firefighter). I spent almost 11 years in the service, with stints on-board USS Conserver, USS Reeves, USS Okinawa, and a tour of duty in Special Boat Unit Thirteen in Coronado, Ca. In 1988, I decided I had had enough of being shocked and burned, and being dirty all the time, and bought a personal computer - an IBM compatible 80286 with 640k of RAM, no hard drive, and a green monitor.
I later bought a modem - 1200 bps of raw blazing speed. I stumbled across Bulletin Board Systems and that changed my life forever.
I got out of the Navy in November, 1991, and by December I was working for a consulting company in San Diego doing data entry.
Two years later I became very ill from some kind of exposure during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm (the other Iraq war). I moved to the foothills of the Boston Mountains in Arkansas to recover. While there, the Internet started becoming more accessible, and I was accepted into a Beta test of a new internet service provider. My life took another change as I discovered the World Wide Web, and started learning programming for the internet. I ended up specializing in Allaire's Cold Fusion programming platform.
About four years later I moved to Chicago to work in a consulting group as a computer programmer and e-commerce consultant. I enjoyed the position, and the people I worked with were absolutely wonderful, but I didn't really like living in Chicago. Big cities really aren't my thing. I moved to Clearwater, Florida and went to work for a large boutique web design and development company as a senior programmer, then was promoted to Senior Architect/Programmer where I designed many of the applications that the company developed.
This was during the dot com boom, and the company folded in a spectacular crash caused by mismanagement and internal conflicts..
I worked freelance for a while, then went to work for a company in Charlotte as a Senior Programmer. After about 6 months I was promoted to Director and started a new department within the company. I did all the planning, hiring, and management of the new Traffic Department; our job was to build web sites that would deliver internet traffic to our main profit producing web sites. We had one site become the 15th busiest web site in the world - that was a happy day.
While working for this company, I was asked to move to Panama City, Panama, to establish and operate some new business units. I spent three and a half years in Panama City, then decided to take a break, and here I am in the Philippines.
I'm now doing professional photography for clients, as well as developing and managing web sites. I have several clients in the Philippines, and am branching into Pattaya, Thailand. I currently travel to Pattaya every three or four months, and am very interested in developing more business there.
