First A Dedication - Special thanks to B Jemison, my mentor and friend.
As humans, when faced with life altering events in our lives, we often react in such a way that we question our very core existence. Fortunately numerous individuals around the world brave these challenges and are reborn out of their personal adversity and begin life anew.
With fresh eyes, they focus on the beauty in their world that was sometimes difficult to perceive beforehand. “The Banquet” is a joyous journey dedicated to all those who despite their trials and tribulations chose to be inspired within and evolve from their former lives to serve their communities and inspire love around them.
Thanks to the 1958 film “Auntie Mame” for the classic Mame line, "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" - Explore Life! ... Jeffrey Dean
One of the first questions most photographers get asked is, “What kind of photography do you do?”. I could answer shortly and succinctly by saying “Fine Art” or “Portraits”, but to be truthful I don’t really have a type of photography that I focus on. Mostly, I feel something in the subject and I zero in on something that speaks to me in that moment. My goal is to engage you with the image and that means something different to everyone. Sometimes I can be so proud of a photo and yet another photo will get the Oooos & Ahhhhhs and that’s the connection for you!
The next thing I get asked is “What’s my style?”. My style is emotion and beauty in everyday objects and human connections. I want my photos to enter your eye, make the connection and be carried home with you. I intend my photos to tell a story or provoke an emotion.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy them!
