My NYC - Cold & Sharp

Published March 27th, 2012

Cold has a certain sharpness to it that manifests on a number of levels. It can bring clarity or sleep, brightness to the skies and winds that hurt the eyes, freeze that aches muscles, bones and causes teeth to chatter.

It can bring a too bright, as when the sun closes the eyes when it is experienced after time in deep darkness, like a tunnel or Plato's cave.

Though sharpness is often emphasized in photography as ultra important it is the bokeh, the blur, that often enhances the photo, softens, accents.

What is out of the depth of field is intrinsic to the piece.

What is out of my depth of field is also, most likely, intrinsic to my peace.

Solo performance

The cold of the past 2 days has killed off most of the flowers, buds and tree blossoms.

This lone dandelion chose to bloom in this frosty and windy weather.

The shock of yellow helped passersby deal with the cold and winds and brought a smile to many a face in NYC today.
