My NYC - Weird calls to weird

Published May 16th, 2012

Definitely in a weird mood today and the photos taken certainly reflect it. I was drawn to the twisted, the hidden, upside down, inside out, the other, the different. And there was plenty to find!

Also pulled towards the sturdy and stable, the sharp and strong and one of my favorite places of stillness gracefully provided images in keeping with that spirit.

Such a beauty to weird.

From a distance

Typically I don't take panoramic style views. Seem to prefer the details, minutia, the close-up and very personal.

But today, after the rain and before the sun and heat arrived, I went to one of my favorite places of stillness, of calm and this view reached out and grabbed my hands forcing them to to focus and press the shutter.

Glad I did.

Leaf cup

Of all the leaves in this small window box area this one leaf was holding like a cup, a bowl, the rain water that fell to earth today.

Under some scaffolding

Found this gem under some scaffolding erected for repairing the side walls of a building on a NYC side street. It appears to be a panel of round window lights.

Old wood, old metal, old glass. And beautiful.

Curvature

First to admit I was in a weird mood today and I suppose weird calls to weird and the photos reflect this.

Fascinated by how this stem and its leaves appeared to be growing backwards along its vine. It seemed so skeletal, spinal, as if bent in a yoga for leaves pose of some great significance. A bonus was the shadow, at the base of where the stem meets vine, so detailed, so delicate.

Offering Number 137 for my #Project365.
