The other day, while photographing the horde of sparrows and finches eating the seed and suet in my feeders, I heard an odd flutter to my right. When I looked over, a beautiful Grackle was quietly sitting there. Now anyone who knows Grackles knows they aren't generally silent, nor do they simply sit. They tend to be rather feisty birds.

While out photographing birds late Winter 2012, I came across a rather beautiful world of new and old life, flowers and flower buds contrasted against the dry decay of last year. The macro world I encountered while traveling along the rivers in the riparian area below Chatfield Reservoir are captured below.

After having browsed around 500px for a couple months, I figured it was time to put some of my own work here. I must say, I really love this site! Its very well designed and implemented, brings together a variety of disparate elements of the modern internet (photographic portfolios, social networking, blogging, etc.) together very well, and showcases some of the most amazing photography I've ever seen! I really love the way good art bubbles up to the top, and the way you can easily find, friend, and interact with other photographers.

I've been a long-time member of DeviantArt, another artist community. Over recent years, I've become rather frustrated with that community and the management of the site. It is continually changing, often in detrimental ways. The diversity of artwork there is unbelievable, and you usually have to spend an incredible amount of time wading through a lot of junk to find the few gems there are.
