As a professional Contemporary dancer I travelled the world’s stages, performing and teaching in interesting and often stunning locations. I loved to dance (still do) but I also loved to take in the amazing sights and scenes I came upon every day, from the streets of Tokyo, to the incredible sunsets in Athens, to the beautiful children in my classes in Taiwan. Throughout these days I always had my camera at hand attempting to capture the sights I was lucky enough to come across. Moments in my life I wanted to keep and to share with others. After dancing I went on to spend several successful years in the media. Modeling formed part of this but I found that I was always far more interested in the technicalities of the photography than the clothes I was wearing, the photographers must have despaired. I also, during this time, rekindled my acting training from drama school days, appearing in some well known tv dramas, advertisements, etc. Some of my own headshots taken over these years opened my eyes to the pitfalls of not having the right photo at the right time. I then went on to train in web design which I still enjoy (you’re looking at a product of that now) and it further fed my passion to design and produce something noticeable and pleasing. I kept up my interest in photography throughout these times for my own personal pleasure, putting together a large portfolio of many sights, many people, many all sorts really. Over the years lots of friends and acquaintances have asked for copies of these photographs to have enlarged and printed. Their interest in my work fired my enthusiasm even more to try to produce slightly more unusual or atmospheric compositions which, when displayed, would add something to a room, evoke a memory, create a mood or simply please someone’s eye. In 2007 I purchased my first professional camera, the Canon EOS 5D. From that moment there was no stopping me. Any holidays became photographic expeditions or a walk ona Sunday afternoon turned into a full-on session. I know sometimes my companions would despair of helping to carry all of my equipment and wait around while I got just that right shot. I now use the Canon 5D Mark 2, it’s a joy to have and… well… I hope the photographs speak for themselves.
