Joseph captured his first portrait shot at the age of three, using his father's medium format camera film camera.
As his father was trained in cinematography as well as being an accomplished still photographer, Joseph had access to a wealth of knowledge from the very beginning. Darkroom experience ensued at age five and continued virtually until the dawn of digital imaging.

Continuing his love affair with capturing life around him, Joseph became the lead sports photographer for his high school yearbook staff.

College brought about additional studies in photojournalism, media and commercial photography.
