Beautiful Colors of Italy♡

Published December 9th, 2011

One of our very favorite photojournalists, Steve McCurry, asks you to see Italy through a whole new set of eyes with these fantastically colorful photos. As part of a new exhibition that just opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, McCurry spent several months photographing locations all over Italy. The exhibition is curated and the criteria used in selecting the photos was not one of space and time but similarity of subject matter and emotions; highlighting the common threads and unimaginable links that tie people and places together, even at different latitudes.
Like we once wrote, McCurry is one of those photographers who can make us feel connected to people at large. His timeless photos pull us in, giving us a better understanding and appreciation for different cultures – both near and far.
This major Steve McCurry retrospective will be the at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome (or the MACRO) until April 29, 2012. Over 200 photographs are being displayed that McCurry took over his impressive 30 year career. Along with his most iconic photo, of the Afghan refugee girl with the piercing green eyes, expect to find some of his most recent works, taken from 2009 to 2011.
