At 41 years old, I decided I needed a new hobby. Photography has always interested me, but I never learned enough to get a proper SLR-type camera. In March 2011, I bought my Pentax K-r and have spent the ensuing months reading, playing, experimenting, and learning all I can about photography. And still, I know nothing! :)
