At 41 years old, I decided I needed a new hobby. Photography has always interested me, but I never learned enough to get a proper SLR-type camera. In March 2011, I bought my Pentax K-r and have spent the ensuing months reading, playing, experimenting, and learning all I can about photography. Since the website changed, I can't seem to find your photos now without a great deal of effort. This saddens me as I can't keep up with your work. I apologize for the lack of comments. It's not that I don't want to! Maybe I am just inept and can't figure the new site out....

I also can't seem to post on anyone's Wall any more.

Please, 500px, get rid of the Flow crap and bring back an easy way to track our friends' activity! Thanks!

Cat portraits with macro lens

I recently got a Panagor 90mm macro lens and have found it's wonderful for cat portraits! I have posted the one I feel is the best here at 500px. Would love to know your opinions and hear about others' experiences using macro lenses for portraiture. Thanks for looking and reading!

Just got a new lens, the Pentax DA 15 Limited. Absolutely love it, although I'm still learning how to properly use it. Very fun lens with wonderful contrast and colors. Here are a couple examples I got when I ventured out this morning.

How to get photos noticed here?

Hi all,

As always, it's amazing looking through the photos posted on 500px! What a talented and diverse group of photographers!

I am relatively new to this and probably don't belong in your presence. However, I do wish there was a way to get your photos viewed here. I post photos and barely get any views or comments. The only reason I bring this up is that it would be wonderful to get constructive criticism and opinions from others who post here. That helps me grow as an amateur photographer, and I wonder if others feel the same way.

It seems that the only photos which are highlighted as "fresh" or "upcoming" are the very most amazing ones. Which means mine are automatically left out! :) It would be wonderful if there was some way to generate traffic to your photos, other than just hoping someone stumbles across them. I do try to comment and favorite other photos. Maybe I need to do more of that.
