NYE 2011

Published April 21st, 2012

Seeing as I'm living in London, I decided to go to see the fireworks with some of my friends. I thought we would end up being so far back all I'd get is heads in my frame or buildings so I didnt bring my camera - turns out we didn't do too badly... I guess it really is true, the best camera is the one you have on you...

I was pleasantly surprised as to how well my phone held up. To be perfectly honest I still don't know how we managed to get so far forward in the crowds.

A cascade of fireworks against a tree's silhouette.

Who says you can't manual focus a phone camera :D I call this one, red glitter ^^

We turned up along the embankment at about 9ish and had to endure several downpours. With 5 people huddled under 2 umbrellas we weathered the storms and midnight drew closer.

The atmosphere was just electric as we neared the witching hour - if you pardon the cliche. Cant say much about their choice of music though.

Everyone's on their phones taking pictures!! (me included). There really is something magical about fireworks isn't there? I still get so excited seeing them as I did back when I were a kid...

The pyrotechnicians must love the Eye. It's like a massive catherine wheel ready to be rigged up. I guess it does make an interesting centrepiece.

The pictures really don't do this justice. I really do urge you to come out and see this at least once - with your special someone, or friends, or even just alone; it's definitely worth it :D
