I am an amateur photographer with an avid passion for capturing images of birds in flight, specifically kingfishers. As a keen fisherman I spent many riverside hours observing these beautiful, elusive and astonishingly quick little birds and soon became captivated by them. To learn how to photograph birds in flight I spent many hours over a period of two years at the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover, where I took shots of a variety of birds of prey during the controlled public flying displays. I am essentially self-taught and, with help from my friends at HCT, I became reasonably satisfied with the results I was getting. From there I switched my attention to wild birds and, naturally, kingfishers. I have been photographing kingfishers for a full year now, have experienced these wonderful little characters in all weathers and have witnessed their differing behaviour according to the season and period in their lifecycle. It has been a wonderful and immensely rewarding year and I consider myself very privileged and fortunate to have the opportunity to be so well-placed to take the photographs you will see on this site. I hope you will enjoy viewing them.
