I am obsessed with black and white photography. I’m often heard to say “I’d like to see that in black and white” or “that needs more black”. To that end I am working on a series of low-key portraits exploring how the darkness can make one uneasy and at the same time imply sadness, serenity and more often than not sensuality. My interest is more in what is happening in the shadows than what you can see in the light. Certainly, the light is important... without it there is no picture. The point is there is so much more happening than those things the photographer brings to your attention. Think also about what we hide and why.
