I was lucky enough to spend a couple months living, working and skiing up in Haines, AK in the spring of 2012. I was a cameraman for a documentary production covering the ins and outs of running a helicopter skiing operation in the rugged powder filled mountains of Alaska.

It turned out to be one of the biggest snow years in Alaska's recent history. The highlight of the trip for me, was spending a day shooting and skiing with Seth Morrison and Eric Roner, and the Teton Gravity Research film crew to give a behind the scenes look of what it all takes to get that perfect shot for their latest ski film "The Dream Factory"

Although I was hired strictly for the duties of video production, I managed to capture some photos along the way. Alaska is a wild place, that truly inspires. From people living in buses, to relentless snowfall, to avalanches, to pure giddy laughs while flying down powder filled spine lines, being on this journey was one I will never forget.

To view more photos from my time spent documenting the heli-ski scene in Alalska check out my set titled "Heli-Sking Haines, Alaska".

Behind the Scenes

I captured this photo while I was out shooting behind the scenes footage of the ski film company Teton Gravity Research, while they were filming a segment for their latest ski film "The Dream Factory" with pro skiers Seth Morrison and Eric Roner.

Home on Wheels

This bus was the home of one the heli-ski guides at Alaska Heli Skiing, for the spring powder guiding season.

He was busy inside cooking up a meal after a long day in the backcountry.

This was shot on the day out with TGR. In the photo our guide was checking snow conditions while I snapped off this shot which I feel gives you a good perspective of how big the mountains in the Chilkat Range outside of Haines Alaska really are.
