My love of the outdoors began with a love of birds. As a young boy I remember being fascinated by the yearly return of Purple Martins to nest in my neighbor's yard. My inquisitive and exploratory nature took over from there. I began serious photography after recieving my first SLR camera (a Minolta Maxxum XTsi) as a High School graduation gift. Photographing birds and other aspects of the natural world was a natural extension of the two hobbies. Currently, I am a Post-doctoral fellow working in fruit breeding and genetics in British Columbia, and use the Canon 7D and Canon 5DmkII digital SLR cameras.
