Shooting The CNE Environment

Published September 5th, 2011

One thing you have to say about the Canadian National Exhibition is that it's an environment for everybody. When it comes to photographers, there is literally everything to suit your style. Into street photography? The crowds man, the crowds. Buildings? Take your pick. Modern, classic, heritage, historical, 70's (yeah, which style is that again?), interior, exterior, you name it they have it. Like landscapes? I am sure you can find some. Animals? Oh yeah they have those too. Flowers, art...need I go on?

The Ex has everything in a one stop shoot. I like a little bit of everything from time to time. This past weekend I went with Toronto Photo Walks and met up with two fine people from 500px, Jen and Andrey. I have to say thanks for the coupons and I am still trying to figure out which of my pictures would look best on canvas. We met up at the entrance, said hello, then scattered.

Me to the Airshow for prime seating, and the rest, somewhere....over there? We met back up after the air show to wander some. We did, and wandered some more. Rested for food and liquid, and waited for the sun to set.

Shooting The Ex at night is a past time for most photographers. The lights, and rides add dimension and wonder to all photography. I went last year, and this year it was looking for new angles, new techniques, and well, NEW. I think I found some things. Some experiments were...interesting. Some were hilarious as well. You be the judge. Next year will be a return to see what else I can capture along the way.
