I live just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, and have been back into photography for about the past 5 years. I learned how to shoot and develop black and white images in high school, and still love that format, but recently since I have been into the digital age I have found a new appreciation for colour images. Photographers such as Chip Phillips, Ben Canales, and Jim Patterson have really been inspirations for my work. I began using Lightroom as my main processing and organizing program for post work, because Photoshop always seemed so daunting. However, I have recently began using Photoshop more as I find the control is so much better for very subtle changes in light and shadow areas, which usually need adjusting because digital cameras do not have the latitude that film had. I have been working with Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks as af late, and find these, combined with adjustment layers, provide so much control over an image. I have just started to get into night photography, and find Photoshop invaluable for processing these images in combination with Lightroom 3. Although landscape work is my mainstay, I also enjoy shooting portraits, and have been slowly building a following in my area with various families. I would like to get more into actors/ actresses head shots one day, but teaching elementary school is my life right now. Maybe when I retire in 7 years?...I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
