We hiked with our new friends, Chantel and Greg, to Heather Lake. We got a late start because Greg worked the night before and had to hike in the rain the whole 4 miles, but we had a great time. On the hike out, we ran out of day light and had to hike in the dark. It was a bit scary, but we made it intact. I was only able to take 5 bracketed shots because the rain was pretty heavy and the bandana that I put over the camera was getting saturated. Hiking in the Cascades is a wonderful experience with so much green that is such a departure from Arizona hiking. There is so much moisture in the air and so I sweat a gallon per mile and I am always dripping wet when we reach our destination. Another thing that I have learned about hiking in the northwest is that anything worth seeing always comes with switchbacks.
I plan to go back on a dryer day to shoot the lake more thoroughly. Anybody interested?
