Ronen Akerman- born in 1963 in the city of Rehovot, Israel and started his professional photography career in 1988 upon completing his 5 years of military service as an officer in the IDF.
Photography for Ronen is a visual experience and a genuine mean of implementing ideas that are fruits of his creative mind. "Photography is a language that expresses concepts and ideas. I believe in the power of photography to transform a thought, an experience, an idea and fantasy into a visual object in the most unique and thrilling way."
Ronen's photography started off as a hobby. He used to capture theater scenes in his camera lens for his own entertainment and for that of his friends in the theater field. Those friends were the ones who later on pushed Ronen into the world of fashion photography. Ronen started off by shooting actors in modeling positions with theater setting as the background.
From this point on, Ronen started photographing portraiture photos of celebrities in the Israeli music, theater and film industry, also politicians and others who wished for an interesting and unique photograph. Also, Ronen had experienced working with international fashion companies, designers, modeling agencies and magazines, mainly in New York and Amsterdam. Ronen is also familiar with artistic photography, some of which was shown in different exhibitions, such as the international BODIES exhibition, by the curator , Doron Polak and other art projects. Furthermore, in 2003, there Ronen had his own exhibition, presenting a retrospective of his work.
Numerous artists from the front-row of the Israeli entertainment industry have posed in front of Ronen's camera lens, some the latest ones:NOA( Achinoa Nini) , Harel Skaat, Ivri Lider,Dana International, Sarit Hadad, Keren Peles, Eli Yatzpan, Orna Datz, Moshe Datz, Kobi Peretz, Shlomi Saranga, Riki Gal, Hana Laslo, Zehava Ben, Dana Berger, Sharon Haziz and many others.
Along the years, Ronen has been doing some portraiture photos and covers for different Israeli newspapers and magazine, such as Yediot Aharonot, Pnai Plus and others. In addition, Ronen works closely with a few record companies, such as, Hed Artzi, NMC and Helicon. His work in the entertainment industry also includes different music festivals and shows. For the past 10 years he has been working closely with Solan productions, photographing the annual Israeli Pestigal show, and other Hanuka shows for Yochelman-Asher Productions, Tzipi Maizler productions and others.
Ronen had done PR stills photography for different Israeli television shows. In the advertisement and commercial image field, Ronen works with several different advertising and PR companies such as Bauman Bar Rivanay, Adler-Chomsky, Rimon-Cohen-Sheinkman, Roni Arnon, Sarit Biran, Yafa Efrati, Sari Israeli, Ruthi Marom, Ruth Shitrit communication and others.
