I graduated from University in Ulm/Germany, and started working as a movie cameraman in Beirut/Lebanon in the early 60's.
Because of the political unrest at that time, I moved to Canada instead.
I have been in Photography all my life, started out with a Leica lllf and moved to a Mamiya 6x7, and finally took the plunge in Digital Photography.
I never looked back!
In the beginning I was taking pictures of landscapes, flowers, portraits etc.. and got sucked in doing Weddings, which I hated simply because people are never satisfied, it's either: I don't like it, I look so fat, or I look so old comments. So, I dropped out of that, and a friend of mine suggested I try bird photography.
It wasn't easy in the beginning, I only had a Canon 30D and the speed was not adequate, slowly though, I got the hang of it, and managed to get shots in flight.
Today I am using a Canon 7D which has enough speed for this kind of work, and I am waiting for Canon to come up with a real camera for a change.
My pictures have been in Galleries, as well as on CNN presently. I sell locally as well as in Craft Fairs and by mail.
I travel a lot in order to shoot those rare birds. I have been to Europe, Africa, Australia, Puerto Rico, The Rockies, Alberta, the Canyons in Western USA and soon Alaska this month for some grizzly pictures.
I get by easily in many countries as I speak fluently 5 languages and understand many more, so travelling is not a problem.
My work consist of animal photography, wildlife and birds. I also am quite proficient in doing manipulations and photo restorations.
