My interest in photography first started when I started using my parents' old Pentax ME super, when I was about 15 years old. Even though I was not photographing too much during this period (being just a kid, without much money to keep buying film and having it processed), I managed to teach myself the very basics of shooting with an SLR. Not very long after I got a motor-driven Minolta SLR. Then I discovered positive film and the much nicer results this gave compared to negative (colour-wise) and up to today I still use my Minolta when shooting colour slides. For a trip in 2004 I got a Fujifilm finepix camera, which gave satisfactory results at the time, but after a fashion I started to miss having control over many settings when shooting pictures. It was not until early 2011, however, that I got my first digital SLR (Nikon D3100), which I am very happy with so far. It will take some time before I can add some nice gear to this camera, so for the moment I make do with the 18-55 mm kitlens. Today I still mostly prefer shooting colour slides because of the great results in depth and colour and (not unimportantly) because the limited number of frames forces you to think very well, before pressing the shutter button. However, I still take most of my pictures with my DSLR these days.
