Curiously investigating the minuscule and repeatedly getting my mind blown by the grandeur of existence. I'm a community college counselor and I love it. Before that I used to DJ and produce electronic dance music...until I blew my ears out. I took a trip to Hawaii in 2009 and took a bunch of pictures with a cheap hand-me-down camera that a friend gave me. That trip really sparked my interest in photography. I remember the key moment. It was on the Manoa Falls trail (where crazy Claire's hut was--from ABC's "Lost"). That following year, I bought my first point & shoot and then in November 2011, I finally got my hands on a DSLR. Creating photographs satisfies my thirst for treasure hunting and collecting (kind of like finding that magic record hidden in the lower bin of an obscure record store...before that became an outdated skill). Photography has changed me from a night-person to a morning-person. I love chasing that magical sunrise, when the streets are quiet, the sky partially filled with clouds with just enough of an opening for the sun to burst through. I am addicted to the Zen-like experience of waiting for the perfect moment of having all of the elements of an image fall into place. It's my ultimate stress reliever and I continue to be amazed by all the fascinating things that I never noticed before I started actually searching for photo opportunities. I suppose it was all there before, but my head was too far up my arse to notice...
