I am a Nature and Landscape Photographer living in Solvang, California with my wife Bobbie and French Bulldog Annie.
My passion for photography began at an early age. As a second-generation artist and an avid fan of twentieth century pop art and surrealist, I found photography to be the best way to express my view of the world. Today’s digital photography tools and techniques allow me to capture and express the sometimes surreal nature of objects found in everyday life.
One of my current projects has been documenting central California Oak trees. Each tree is fully unique, representing the struggles, scars and life bestowed on the tree by nature. I often consider the parallels between the appearance of a twisted and scarred Oak tree and that of a human counterpart. While all objects can be uniquely touched by nature, I find each Oak tree tells a story, much like that of the human face. My work ranges from the pure, to a digital blending of nature, which can be helpful in expressing a specific vision.
The selection of media, printing and displaying my work is as rewarding to me as all phases of the creative photographic process. I create limited editions of no more than 10 for each of my works on only the finest high-quality fine art archival media.
