Good Shoot At Red Rock

Published March 10th, 2013

I had a good shoot at Red Rock this morning. A bit cold at 6:00 AM (should have brought gloves) There was just a light dust of white above the mountains. All in all I think it was a good shoot despite losing my wireless shutter receiver and fear of frost bite. BWT if you are ever at WPPI you must attend the live print contest panel judging. This two day event is worth the price of admission alone and provides great insight for any level of photographer.

PS: my love for Museo and other fine art paper has not faded. Just enjoying a new find.

Published February 12th, 2013

I'm pulling 4 limited edition runs each day for the next few days to catch up. Digital is nice to be sure, but I always love holding the print in my hand the best.

On another note, I just noticed that Hahnemühle now offers Digital FineArt papers with hand-crafted deckle edges on all four sides. I'm looking forward to trying out the Photo Rag 308 version.

AOPS Reception and Lecture

Published August 15th, 2011

The Art of Photography Show opening reception was great fun as well as educational. I had a chance to talk to many of the other photographers in the show and others who had exhibited in past shows. Roughly 50% of the photographers in the show were at the opening reception; a great turnout considering how wide spread the representative countries were.

Anne's talk on Sunday was standing room only and what a talk it was. She spent the first half of the lecture talking to the selection process as well as several specific pieces from the show. The second half of the talk covered the museum selection process. The lecture and the following Q&A was a rare treat. After the lecture many of the show photographers went to lunch and then on to the current (Faces) exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA). I had to leave after the MOPA tour, but the rest of the group went on to MCASD La Jolla, where Philipp Ritterman treated us to a personal tour of his exhibit, Emperor's River.
