Dondi Rituals (দণ্ডি কাটা) | Kolkata 2014

It is a ritual of Hindus, performed on the day of Shitala Puja, a Hindu Goddess who is worshipped to protect people against many Hindrance and diseases. On an auspicious hot summer day scores of Hindus after taking a dip in the river Ganga at Kalighat, a renowned holy place in Kolkata, perform this ritual locally (in West Bengal, India) known as ‘Dondi’. An evening @ Dhakuria Station

Dhakuria station is very near to my house in Kolkata, and many eventful (good and bad, both ways) evenings were spent here.

Moreover, I just love the juxtaposition of hustle-bustle of trains coming in-and-going with daily passengers, along with people sitting and chatting lazily.

This story contains some of my random clicks which reminds me the moments I spent here alone last week.
