Today I took part in the 500px Photo Party hosting by the always smiling Jen Tse. This was my first photo walk, and really my first time shooting with other people, so I had no clue what to expect, but I had a blast! What I love about 500px is that it is very much a community. I have been shooting less than a year, and still have a lot to learn, but it makes me feel fantastic when other photogs on here like my work :). Today was fantastic! The weather was gorgeous, the scenery was beautiful, and the company was very friendly. Im a pretty shy guy around strangers, but my fellow 500pxers were so inviting I felt like they were old friends in no time!
In the morning, I went to the dentist to get some cavities filled, so by the time I got the the meetup, I was frozen and a bit loopy, but wouldnt miss this meetup for anything!
We started out at Yonge/Dundas Square, and then went up to the 500px offices in the Ryerson Digital Media Zone. It was an awesome vibe up there, very chill, the kind of place Id want to work. After a great chat with the 500px team, and giving away from awesome 500px tshirt (Id love to buy a 3XL next time they place an order for shirts) we embarked on our walk. We went down Yonge, across queen, and up spadina. By the time we hit Spadina and Dundas, I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I decided to hop a streetcar home, which is a shame, because I would have loved to hang out more.
The best part of my day; Having strangers go out of their way to get my contact information so we can keep in communication! That felt great! I feel like I met some great new friends today.
I am excited for the next 500px hangout.
Below are some of the shots I got today. I love dark images and I also love tight depth of field, as you can tell. I am still trying to find my 'style', but I definitely have a look that I like at the end of the day. Enjoy!
