I shoot Landscapes, the night sky and just about anything that interests me. Ohh and I also do commissioned work for clients, covering a range of events including fundraisers, parties and festivals!
I have always been interested in the Media industry, in particular the production side. From a young age I loved getting involved with school productions controlling sound and lighting, building websites for fun, and volunteering at my local community radio station. After leaving school I knew I wanted to go into the Media Production field, I just didn’t know what. I decided to study Creative Media Production at college, giving me an insight into all the various aspects within the industry. Throughout my two year course I learnt a lot about many roles in the industry and I also learnt a lot about what I did and did not want to do!
I started to get into photography in March 2011 when I invested in my first Camera the Samsung NX5. I had been thinking of getting a camera for a while and decided this was the right time, I was in my second term of College and had saved up enough money from my weekend job to make the plunge. Naturally I must have taken about 5000 pictures in the first week of having the camera, getting to grips and testing out various techniques from a variety of youtube videos.
I continued at college still not 100% sure on what it was I wanted to do within Media in till later that year when college arranged a visit to Italy. We had the option of ether videoing or photographing our experience. Having my camera I decided that photography would be the best option, not only would I get to use my own kit, I would also have access to it all the time, ohh and I wouldn’t have to sit through video editing, one of the tasks I learnt I definitely did not want to do.
After getting some pretty good results from the trip and enjoying my time while photographing, I decided to focus more on photography and try and base as much of my college work around it as possible. I have now finished my course gaining a triple Distinction* as my final grade. I now spend my time out with my camera continuing to learn and develop my skills, testing out ideas and challenging my creativity. Loving nature and the outdoors I mostly enjoy landscape photography along with photographing the night sky and capturing long exposures, getting my inspiration from the likes of Peter Lik, Ben Canales and lincoln harrison. As well as shooting what ever interests me I have also begun commissioned work for clients, covering a range of events including fundraisers, parties and festivals.
