Among other things, I shoot "from the hip" style street photography in Montreal. I present that work in a photoblog called "Street Scene | Montreal and Beyond." (Or just "Street Scene" for short.)
Street Scene is a personal exploration of the urban environment and the people within it. It is experimental by nature and intended to show an oblique and subconscious view of the city. Framing seems random, heads and feet are sometimes cut off, and occasionally things are blurry. It's an exploration of viewpoint, perspective, and identity.
As a spinoff of Street Scene, I have a Tumblr blog called Montréal Ville Mobile (it rhymes if you say it in French) that contains nothing but photos of Montrealers using mobile phones. It's a fun selection of "from the hip" images that are processed to look retro, like faded snapshots from the 1970s. Unlike the more exploratory Street Scene, Montréal Ville Mobile is just for fun.
