Born and raised in the Ukraine, currently living and working in Toronto. In love with nature and travel. Like taking artsy photos of anything and everything. Dislike excessive post-processing. Some would say I'm stylistically random... Sure :) I just love experimentation and hacking, and that is probably the cause. Photography to me is about the journey, exploration of techniques, and capturing differently sized slices of time... so hopefully something in this portfolio will catch your eye - no matter what genre tickles your fancy. Enjoy!

You can see wind farms everywhere in the hills around Lake Arenal, the recycling facilities are world-class (even in small towns and villages we passed by). Costa Rica is also one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, with a large percentage of its territory dedicated to protecting natural reserves,

Thoughts on Android

Published September 2nd, 2011

This is a repost from a Google+ discussion. Someone was asking for advice in deciding on a new phone, and I decided to chime in with my thoughts, having switched from an old iPhone to a shiny new Nexus S just half a year ago.

------

...I do agree about the iPhone culture, it can get annoying. Then again, I've personally transcended beyond technological vanity, so Steve Jobs' "reality distortion field" has no power over me ;)

As for the platform comparison, first hand, here are some excerpts from my notes on the subject (keep in mind I'm running the vanilla Android on Nexus S, with no 3rd-party UI "enhancements" (cough)).

Overall: It takes more clicks, taps, and tinkering, to get Android running smoothly and to your liking. On the other hand, on iOS you don't really get that many options for customizability, so that point is moot. Once you do get a few apps installed on Android, you will notice the phone slowing down, because for some unfathomable reason even the apps you didn't open ...
