Christian Loader is a professional underwater photographer & videographer for Scubazoo Images (www.scubazoo.com) and has worked extensively in Malaysia, Maldives, and Indonesia.
His interest in the underwater world began at the age of 14 after a cold dive in the murky bay of Bantry, Ireland. Becoming a certified diver on a coral reef conservation project in the Philippines, he then gained a degree in Ocean Science at the University of Plymouth, UK, and achieved the HSE Commercial Diving Pt.4, and PADI Divemaster certifications.
His desire to explore the underwater world drew him to SE Asia to see the diverse marine life he had learned about. He became a PADI Instructor working in the islands of Malaysia, and it was in early 2007 when he first picked up a compact camera and began to shoot the incredible marine life of Malaysian Borneo and Indonesia, and his passion for underwater imagery grew from there.
Being in the right place at the right time, at the end of 2007 he joined the team at Scubazoo Images in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. He trained as an underwater videographer at Sipadan Island before heading out to the beautiful country of the Maldives ('the underwater kingdom' as we would call it), where he worked for the next 3 years of his life, diving & shooting all day, everyday - a dream come true.
After the Maldives, he spent 18 months shooting in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, a macro-lovers paradise. With the famous Lembeh Strait as his playground, he concentrated more on stills photography in 2011 and macro photography became his forte.
Currently based at Scubazoo's office in the city of Kota Kinabalu in Malaysian Borneo, he has taken up the position of Senior Photographer and shoots on assignments worldwide.
