Craig Melville is a 22 year old landscape photographer from Northern California. Craig first became interested in photography when he was 13 on a family vacation to Hawaii, taking photos with a point and shoot digital camera. Now Craig spends most of his time exploring the Sonoma/Marin county coastline, traversing the peaks of Mount Tam, or walking among the great Redwoods.
Craig is a black and white diehard, which is surprising considering he shot thousands of digital photos before ever stepping foot in a dark room.
"I don't dislike color, in fact I love looking at color photos; I just don't like shooting them. I'm more interested in the light, shadows, tones, shapes, and textures of a scene than capturing a sunset or sunrise."
Though Craig has spent the better part of the last decade perfecting his craft, he still continues to strive for improvement daily. He is always trying to expand his photographic knowledge and is constantly exploring new techniques, and experimenting with new styles, all in efforts to achieve even more beautiful photographs.
