I’ve been an amateur photographer for years having learned photography in high school journalism class. When people ask me what type of photography I do, I'm not sure what to say. I'm often attracted to scenes that capture unique moments in time or preserve pieces of our rapidly disappearing past, however there are many photos of animals, plants and bugs in my portfolio too. Stylistically I’ve always preferred to explore subjects from unusual angles and call out unique textures in a variety of objects and landscapes. Initially I photographed with black and white film (usually Tri-X), now with digital media. Though much of my recent work is mostly color, I think the black and white photographer in me is often revealed through the mix of contrasting light and shadow that makes up a large component of my work.
