These pictures represent the world I have seen and experienced. When I'm gone, they will stick around to let others know what this place was like in my eyes.
In this sense, while I'm largely uninterested in the commercial aspects of photography, I'm fascinated with photography as the "freezing of time." Though I cannot literally stop the swirling of atoms or the drifting of photons through the universe, I can record a visual imprint of where they were at any precise moment I choose. That is power, in a sense.
If the photons I record bouncing off the varied molecules in front of me enable another person to better understand the world they live in, whether by imparting knowledge, sharing an appreciation for beauty, or transporting them vicariously to a place they could not go otherwise, I have accomplished something incalculably significant. It would seem we all have this same power.
