I'm a Sydney-based amateur photographer who grew up in The Netherlands. The contents of my photographs are typically related to human culture in one of its many facets such as architecture, street life, technological objects, or works of art. Additionally, I try to capture the natural world which we inhabit such as landscapes, animal life, or geographical structures.
I'm also a PhD candidate in philosophy at Macquarie University in Sydney. The topic of my research concerns the relation between cognition and technology. My philosophical work can be found at: academia.edu/RichardHeersmink.
One of the many things I like about photography is that it invites you to look at the world differently, to explore relations between elements in your perceptual field and to explore details of things you would have otherwise never seen. Like philosophy, photographic exploration changes how one sees the world.
