Message to all "Dislikers":

Published July 29th, 2011

Dears! I have no idea what is the point of hitting "Dislike" button. Maybe it is jealousy, maybe it is the way to promote your own photography in Upcoming and to move them to Popular sections but I am pretty sure it is definitely not that you really don't like the photo! I am sure you don't even look at the picture you are Disliking! It really doesn't matter! Pros who are making photography for living are selling them without their pictures going to Popular or Upcoming! The one who need to sell his photography WILL sell it anyway, because they are darn good! You will NOT sell your photography here! If you are trying to reach the Top charts the way you are doing this, quality of your photography is already crappy! Normal people are using this site to have fun and share their work with the world, to learn from Masters and to improve their skills. If you'll look at the photographs you disliked, you'll notice, that even after you throw them down from the tops, they are rising again. Do you have any idea why? Let me explain: the good picture, the strong picture will remain good and strong no matter what! And I know that in general Photographers (yes I intentionally wrote in title case) are very nice people and use to help each other but not trying to hurt each other throwing a stupid comments to each other. And if the picture is really good, people will like it anyway!

So this is my suggestion to you: stop doing stupid things and start improving your photography skills! This is the only way to the TOP!

P.S. If you really don't like the picture, you are always welcome to hit Dislike button, but have a courage to comment it and say what you don't like!

I have noticed that myself too and it's really suck when you know that someone do that just for the competition on getting to the popular...I am sick of ot

If you do not like a photo... and If you must, speak your mind instead of pressing the "dislike" button... tell the photographer who took the picture why you do not like it. I am beginner in photography, and I´m happy to receive criticism and advice on my photos. It can help me as a photographer to grow ... Maybe just me who thinks this.

I agree with you. But who cares if people like your photos or not? You took them for you, yes? That picture "Destiny" is a touch of genius, in my opinion. Did you see the shopfront first or did you want to show "destiny" and then find a way. I wish I'd taken that picture.

To Robert Paul: yes we notice, because we are the people they are dealing with! They are interested to throw down the ratings of pictures that are on the top or on the way to the top! And if you have one of you favorite photo with the rating let's say 90 and one fine day you'll see it dropped down to 79 will you notice that?

Agree. If you don't click 'like' it is dislike by default, why need another button?

What I don't see the point of is the button dislike itself. I don't understand why it exists... Photography is all about subjectivity, and I really don't give a damm about what others like or dislike on others work, it will not make me change my opinion on a specific photo.

I totally agree with your PS, but I have to say ... it's kind of funny that all the rants about Dislikes (that I've seen) come from people who are already getting a ton of positive attention. You have 98 photos, 804 "affection," and more favorites than I have total views ... how do you even notice when someone hits Dislike?
