Award Winning - Internationally Recognized Images by Pro Nature, Landscape & Wildlife Photographer Nathaniel Smalley View a full collection at: www.FeatherFocusPhotography.com The elements that led to the creation of Feather Focus Photography have been developing nearly my entire life. Born in 1977 in South Portland, Maine I grew up with a deep appreciation for the incredible beauty of New England and its dramatic coastlines. I began my study of photography in High School and have never stopped exploring this vast art form. My first camera was a 35mm Pentax K100. It was with this camera that I built a solid knowledge of Manual Photography, and these core building blocks have served me well to this day. I transitioned from film cameras to all digital in the 1990's. I currently shoot with both the Canon & Nikon line, as an instructor I believe this makes me even more valuable to my clients in the field. My primary emphasis is in Nature, Landscape & Wildlife Photography. During my childhood and adolescent years I spent all my free time exploring the great outdoors. I've been an avid bird watching enthusiast and naturalist since I was eight years old. I vividly remember the day my passion for birds began in the early spring of 1985. We had a few bird feeders in our back yard Maple tree for the local songbirds and all of their activity at the feeders attracted a migrating Red-tailed Hawk. The hawk landed in the tree a mere fifteen feet from our picture window where I was standing. I was hooked. I remain fascinated by the Avian Kingdom to this day. Needless to say, I feel most at home under the open sky exploring the wilderness, always armed with my camera. In 2007 my life’s journey brought me to Arizona and the Southwestern US. I was stuck by the stark contrast between the raw desert landscape & vast rock formations, in comparison to the woodlands and rugged coastlines of my youth. In January of 2012 I officially left my day job to pursue my rapidly expanding career as a Nature Photographer full time. My life is now spent with my camera in the amazing, Natural World. My Images are my Journal... feel free to read along.
