A native Vermonter, my adventures in photography began with a Nikon F5 and a 50mm lens in the year 2000. Immediately collecting a large number of images of far-away birds flying away from me, I lamented the need for more focal length. With hard work as well as gradually acquiring some longer lenses, I was able to improve upon my results.

Through online nature photography websites I met and began photographing with other photographers. I ultimately transitioned to Canon gear and for a number of years assisted photo workshops with Greg Downing Photography, traveling throughout North America and also to the Galápagos Islands of Ecuador.

I co-founded the nature photography online resource NatureScapes.Net with Greg Downing and E.J. Peiker, and for several years performed several roles including Editor in Chief.

My work now focuses on Vermont nature and wildlife, with an occasional trip outside my local area.

There are no words to describe the joy of being in the field, when light and subjects work in your favor and you are able to capture the images that you designed, or perhaps the ones that may have surprised you.
