Keith Vaught bought his first digital camera and an annual state park pass in the spring of 2003. The unique beauty the Great Salt Lake drew him out to Antelope Island State Park as a frequent hiker and photographer. Almost from the beginning, Keith began sharing his pictures on the Internet. In 2007, fellow photographer Charles Uibel suggested that Keith send some pictures in to KSL TV. For about one year, Keith’s pictures were frequently featured on the weather segment of the nightly news. In October 2007, Studio 5, a weekday morning show, did a story on Keith’s photography. Since then, Keith has upgraded his camera to a Nikon DSLR. He has displayed his photographs in shows at the Antelope Island visitor center, the Ogden Nature Center, the Annual Bird Festival, and the Ogden Art Show. Whenever possible, Keith likes to tell people about Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake. He says, “The island is a place of solitude and peace and the Great Salt Lake is the perfect palette, reflecting the magnificent Wasatch Range and the ever-changing skies over northern Utah.”
