Iván Castro Peña was only nine years old when he started to work in a radio show that marked the beginning of his passion for audiovisual creation. Looking for more and new things to learn, Ivan drop-off school and started a wonderful job that involved music concerts and TV shows with video professional equipment.
Iván was fifteen years old when he direct his first TV commercial, later he venture on the 3D animation and computer design world.
In 1996, Iván was seventeen years old when he stated to work in a company that sold equipment for television and broadcast, and he was in charged of training the costumers in the use of the equipment.
This activity led him to create learning methods and technics that later in his life were useful for his teaching carrier at almost all the local universities in Guatemala.
Iván has imparted his skills in so many different university degrees such as: System Engineering, Graphic and Industrial design, Architecture, Marketing, Communication Science. Teaching so many different curses such as: Cinematography, Television, Radio, Animation 3D, Graphic Design, Web development, Photography, Tourism, and Economics.
He started in Guatemala and has had the opportunity to teach in almost all Latin America. He has travel around many countries taking education to places like indigenas communities, jails and other places with non-existent education. He created his own school, Aire Academia, with thousands of students registered so far.
He has worked as a conference speaker in different countries.
Iván has a lot of experience in graphic design and has created many logos; advertising for posters, newspapers and billboards. He has worked for international channels such as CNN and Univision.
Iván has the required experience to work on his own and with his own creativity on complete advertising campaigns for press, television, radio and social networks.
He worked at the Cinema and Television School in San Antonio de Los Baños in Cuba. Iván has participated in the production of movies, working with Casa Comal in Guatemala on several projects.
He has been voiceover in several documentaries, music videos and TV commercials.
In 2001, Iván continued studying and obtains a university degree in filming production at Universidad Galileo.
In 2006, he stated his career in photography and in a short period of time he has organized several collective and personal expositions, six books three of them for Banco Industrial of Guatemala. His photos have appeared in many international magazines, newspapers, billboards, calendars, telephone directories in Latin America and Europe. His technics and tutorials had been published in many means of communication.
In 2010, El Chalten, a small and new town in Argentina, ask Iván for his help in choosing their official flag, later on he worked in several documentaries and photographic projects to promote it’s tourism. In 2012, he worked on a documentary for INGUAT, (Guatemala’s national institute of tourism).
Iván has experience in shooting photographs and taking video by air. He has won national and international awards for his work. He has encouraged the creation of nine photographic groups in several countries; one of them gathers more than 2,600 members. Three college thesis of his worked had been completed. He is former president of the Guatemalan photographic club.
